eg The Naza Group of Companies was founded by the late Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Utama SM Nasimuddin SM Amin and began operations in 1976, trading in import of used and reconditioned vehicles. Today, the Group through its subsidiaries represents various marques, including, Completely Built Up (CBU) Mercedes Benz, KIA, CBU Peugeot, and Porsche. This is in addition to other business interests in the hospitality industry locally and abroad, public transportation and host of other activities. The Group became a full-fledged auto assembler when they launched the KIA Spectra in 2001.

In 2003, the Naza Group introduced the nation's first Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), Naza Ria and in 2005 the Naza Citra MPV and the double Car Of The Year Award-Winning Naza Sorento Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The Naza Group operates an automotive manufacturing facility in Gurun, Kedah which currently manufactures Ria, Citra, Sorento, Spectra, Optima, Sportage, Suria and 206 Bestari.

In 2006, Naza Corporation Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Naza Group of Companies launched the 206 Bestari which is a localized version of the popular Peugeot 206. Worldwide, this popular French model has sold over 6 million units.

In 2007, Naza Corporation Sdn Bhd introduced the fun, frugal supermini, the Naza Forza 1.1 to the Malaysian market in anticipation of higher fuel prices in 2008.

In 2008, Nasim Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Naza Group of Companies was awarded the franchise for the Peugeot brand of vehicles by Automobiles Peugeot while Naza Italia Sdn Bhd was awarded the franchise for the Ferrari brand of vehicles.
